Job title: Application Developer

Reporting to: IT Manager

Overall Purpose: To develop a range of business critical IT projects. To write code for stand-alone development projects and those that involve the design and implementation of modules that interface with the company’s database. Formulate, write and implement code that delivers the desired and planned functionality of IT objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and deliver successful upgrading initiatives by developing the Access database and .net applications.
  • Participate in requirements analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture.
  • Translate application storyboards and user cases into functional applications.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Improve productivity and efficiency within the operational area.
  • Analysis and documentation of business process information to enable process improvement and re-engineering.
  • Provide support for bespoke in-house developed MS Access database and .net applications.
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
  • Publish details of developed solutions to an application inventory for delivered process improvement solutions that contains references to source code, documentation and other relevant technical data to enable application support.
  • Communicate fully and effectively with team/users throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring that at all times the stakeholders are fully aware of the project status.
Key Attributes:
  • Strong knowledge of .NET web framework (3.5 and onwards).
  • Proficient in MVC, ASP.NET, C# with a good knowledge of their ecosystems.
  • Microsoft Excel, Access and VBA programming.
  • Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC, SOAP).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and onwards (SQL scripts, Views, optimised Stored Procedures, Table-Value Functions and Scalar-Valued Functions).
  • Development experience in XML, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Python.
  • Development experience in Web services, Window Services, scripting languages.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
  • Skill for writing reusable libraries.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
  • Experience creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.
  • Basic understanding of CLR, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds.
  • Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
Desirable skills:
  • Development experience or knowledge of using SQL Server reporting(SSRS) and Crystal Reporting.
  • Knowledge of Agile development with TDD approach.
  • Windows Azure or AWS / Amazon Web Services integrations.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL, MySQL, Oracle, P/L SQL.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
